As long as I can remember, I always had an interest in high performance cars. The 1974 Nova that is featured throughout this site is actually the first car I owned. I purchased the Nova in 1980 while in high school and it was my daily driver.
After I graduated high school, I added some “race car” inspired modifications to the Nova.… but always keep the car street legal, tagged, registered, and insured.
Soon after graduating high school, I landed a corporate job with a national retailer where I was responsible for store development and visual presentation. I worked at this company for 38 years traveling the country managing new store projects. Along the way, I started to photograph and document the new store upgrades, along with the enhanced visual presentations, and forwarded this information throughout the entire company. The hands-on experiences I gained while leading store openings were implemented into all store training and merchandising documents that I was responsible for providing. I really enjoyed being a participating member of the planning, documentation, and executing teams… the foundation of my “Start to Finish” approach for sharing information.
That brings us to today. I am retired, but still bust my knuckles wrenching on the same 74 Nova I drove in high school. During my retirement, I continued to photograph and document the modifications I have performed on my Nova and posting these updates on some Chevy Muscle Car forums (Steves Nova Site, Team Camaro, and Team Chevelle – user name “RifRaf”).
It takes me MUCH longer to complete a project when documenting my work (stop what I’m doing > clean my hands > get the camera > take some photos and notes > get back to working on the Nova > realize I can’t remember where I put the last tool I was using > spend even more time looking for the lost tool), but I still enjoy combining my mechanical and technical skills to share information.
So that brings me to my current challenge. To create a new website that provides me with a more comprehensive and creative outlet for sharing information… and design an experience that is effortlessly simple to explore and genuinely fun.
When I started this project, I had absolutely no knowledge or proficiency in website design or production. But I’m a car guy, so my goal was to create a site that appealed to motorheads!
